The Upper Loire Valley is renowned for its iconic Sauvignon Blanc wines from Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre. These wines are crisp, aromatic, and elegantly structured, offering notes of grapefruit, gooseberry, and subtle hints of honey. While both appellations showcase the region’s distinctive terroir, Pouilly-Fumé wines are generally slightly fuller-bodied than those from Sancerre. Excellent with seafood, fresh salads, and goat cheese, they are best enjoyed within 4 to 6 years of aging, although exceptional vintages can develop gracefully for longer.
